The Mount Sinai Regional Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) is recognized by the World Federation of Hemophilia as an International Hemophilia Training Center, one of a handful in the United States, and, as such, has hosted professionals from Thailand, Russia, India, and Brazil for mini-sabbatical programs.
All treatment centers provide comprehensive care to patients with bleeding disorders, the most common of which is hemophilia. Comprehensive care consists of a multidisciplinary approach to care concentrated in one visit. Patients with severe forms of hemophilia are seen one or two times per year, moderate forms one time per year or one time per two years, and mild cases are seen every other year.
At the Mount Sinai HTC, patients are seen by the Adult or the Pediatric Hematologist, an Orthopedist, the Infectious Disease Consultant, if needed, a Psychiatrist by appointment, Registered Nurses, a Physical Therapist, Social Workers, a Dental Hygienist, Vocational Counselor, Geneticist, and the Clinical Coordinator.

The HTC provides comprehensive multidisciplinary services to over 100 children and their families with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and related bleeding disorders.

HTC staffing includes Suchitra S. Acharya, MD, a pediatric hematologist , and Richard A. Lipton, MD, MPH, an internal medicine hematologist. Staff also includes an orthopedist, two nurse clinicians, a genetic counselor, a social worker, a physical therapist and a dental hygienist.
The HTC provides patients with a comfortable waiting area, examination rooms and a conference room.Comprehensive evaluations for children are performed on Thursdays. Walk-in visits with acute medical problems are accommodated Monday - Friday.

The Regional Comprehensive Hemophilia Diagnostic and Treatment Center offers comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment to children and adults with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. The center is designated by The US Department of Health and Human Services as a regional program serving New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico.
A dedicated social worker provides psychosocial services to patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. The social worker, Jacqueline Lefkowitz, LCSW, is available Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM- 6:00 PM at (212) 746-4337.
